The Obie Awards began in 1980 and have grown throughout the years to feature more than 100 building, remodeling, marketing and personal achievement categories. The Obie Awards are the premier awards in the new home construction industry, and recognize outstanding achievement in new home building. Presented by Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association Sales and Marketing Council, the annual Obie Awards are hosted every fall at the Georgia Aquarium. A panel of 20 judges reviews and evaluates the submissions to determine the winners.
This year, Harrison Homes is proud to be the recipient of Three Gold Obies for Custom Homes.
Lake Forrest Custom
This modern farmhouse custom home pairs traditional design elements with bold choices. The homeowners came to Harrison Homes armed with a single exterior photo, a checklist of do’s and the dream of a poolside party space visible from every angle.
Wrapped around the pool, this home invites the outdoors in. It streams loads of natural light and prioritizes pool views. An elegant pebble gray kitchen boasts an amazing view of the oasis with sliding doors that embrace fresh air. Walk through the living room and enter a grand, masculine pool room with vaulted ceilings and rustic beams. You know instantly that this space is all about fun and entertainment. A second set of slider doors provides easy entry and exit, and an eclectic, custom built bar with walnut top invites guests to sit and have a beverage. The fireplace anchors the space and a powder room sits conveniently to the right.
After living in an older ranch home for over 20 years, the couple approached Harrison to build a forever home on their current lot. The dream: a rustic, modern farmhouse that serves as their very own adult playground.
The homeowners had several unique criteria essential to the heart of their build:
- Sophisticated entertaining spaces: kitchen, living room, screened-in porch, pool
- Solar panels and car charging station (emphasis on renewable energy)
- His and hers workspaces suited for two very different occupations. Art studio for messy, creative expression, and an office for a working professional
- Custom wine cellar to accommodate the homeowner’s extensive collection
- Smartly designed areas and materials to pamper and protect their fur babies. Specifically, a dog run, mudroom plus dog wash station with dutch door, and materials that would withstand the wear and tear of 16 paws
- A spacious home gym the couple could comfortably enjoy together
The combination of unique custom features, rustic modern design, natural materials and artistic lighting choices create a stunning product. This home is one of a kind.
Hampton Hall Custom
A neighborhood street where kids could play safely. The feeling of being tucked within a community. A floorplan designed from scratch. Gorgeous arches and symmetry. A monochromatic color scheme displaying the stunning contrast of light and dark. A private backyard that invites a staycation. These were the dreams that inspired this urban farmhouse custom home.
Repeat clients for Harrison, the homeowners approached us with their big vision, which also required finding the perfect lot in the right community. The home sits majestically on a corner, and every angle presents just as beautifully as the front elevation. Inside, the commitment to the monochromatic color scheme is consistent throughout every room, stunning yet rich in it’s simplicity. The trim detail, white oak accents, arches in the kitchen, living room and intimate seating room make the home a work of art and craftsmanship. Not to mention the pair of double, oversized islands in the kitchen. A true masterpiece.
